This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference for Children and Young People and their families in Camden by further developing the Quality Assurance Service.

We are currently looking for a Head of Service (Quality Assurance). We are looking for someone with drive, enthusiasm who is committed to children, young people, and their families. You will need to meet the challenges that Camden and its partners currently face, including the implementation of Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018).

A major focus of the role is to ensure that the service is responsive to the safeguarding needs of Camden’s children, young people, families and their communities, and is able to respond to critical challenge both internally and externally. The successful candidate will need to take the reins both strategically and operationally to lead, develop the service, and work with established partners; therefore, we require you to be an experienced, ambitious confident leader. The ideal candidate will be passionate about keeping children, young people, their families and communities safe. This will be achieved by a key feature of the role, which is to further develop the Quality Assurance Service including its model of delivery, by working in Partnership with Camden corporately and with local agencies and organisations.

This is an opportunity to work as part of the senior leadership group in our children’s safeguarding and social work team, who were described by OFSTED as ‘Outstanding’. The ideal candidate would want to support their own development and encourage their team to undertake the same opportunities.

The senior leadership group are ambitious, dedicated, committed and help support the provision of good and effective services for vulnerable children and young people and as part of the leadership group you would need to demonstrate these behaviors

Camden is an OFSTED rated ‘Good Authority’ (OFSTED 2017)

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.


The successful candidate will need to be a fully qualified, accredited social work professional (CQSW, Dip SW, CSS or PQCSS) and have current registration with the Health and Care Professionals Council. You must have extensive experience, which includes management, leadership roles and working effectively with Safeguarding Boards.

The successful candidate will need to have extensive knowledge of the Children’s’ Statutory Framework and an operational understanding of the underpinning legislation. A demonstrable understanding of working within statutory partnership this includes Health & Police colleagues at   senior manager/leadership level.
