You must be a highly effective communicator who possesses the ability to interact with people at all levels including Parents, Carers, Young People, Head Teachers, SENDCos, Social Care and Health Practitioners and others as required.  You will work across two teams with a primary focus on a particular group of identified children and young people. You will have knowledge of SEND law and its application with regard the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015 as well as high levels of knowledge in relation to the Care Act 2014 and Social Care practice and processes. You will work under the direction of the Senior SEN Officers in collaboration with SEN colleagues, to fulfil your statutory duties, but also the legal department and across all allied services to plan and prepare for the Local Authority’s case in response to internal complaints, the Local Government Ombudsman or Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal with regard to decisions on provision/placements.

This post demands a high level of flexibility, a positive attitude and ability to adapt to changes due to service needs. The post holder will be expected to work in an open plan office environment in which ‘hot-desking’ and agile working practices are implemented and working at home as required or in agreement with the SEN Manager. The post holder may be expected to work at other sites, including in other boroughs and attend annual review meetings outside of the Borough and London.
